After the INDIGO meeting today we decided to postpone this issue and move it to the wishlist.
It may be that using reference systems is enough but we will put this issue back on the actual roadmap in case it gets apparent that "individual" references are needed in addition.

When cleaning up I decided to close this issue because functionality is not needed now.
