Feature #2675
closedNew tab layout
Description
As discussed in the last developer [Meeting_2025-11-12|meeting] the new system shows a lot more relation tabs in detail views.
@Stefan Eichert made the great suggestion to hide tabs without entries but make them appear with a plus button beside the last open tab.
Update
The new tab layout approach removed empty tabs and displays their content in the last visible tab (+ Relation)
A preview can be seen at the development demo: https://demo-dev.openatlas.eu/entity/50625

- Description updated (diff)
- Status changed from Assigned to Resolved
- Assignee changed from Katharina Wünsche to Alexander Watzinger
- Easy to implement (no fiddling around with showing/hiding tabs)
- Less clicks to add something
- Changes are in the feature/new_classes branch and a preview can be seen here: https://demo-dev.openatlas.eu/entity/50625
- I named it + Relation because just a plus sign looked too inconspicuous. Maybe a color reversed plus or a different naming? I'm open for suggestions.
- Some buttons are not working correctly but it's good enough to see how it will look like
- I added user from the meeting where it was discussed as watchers to update you, feel free to remove yourself again. And apologies to Katharina for grabbing her assigned issue ;)

- Status changed from Resolved to Closed
We tested a bit and are satisfied with the resulting look so closing the issue. But we are still open for suggestions about the label.

Nina made a suggestion in the main release issue and I'm re-posting it here in the detail issue about tabs.
Feedback to her suggestion is welcome.
As already visible in the demo-dev version (https://demo-dev.openatlas.eu/entity/50625), tabs that do not yet contain any entries are grouped under the “+ Relation” button and can be populated from there. However, it is unclear whether “+ Relation” is the most appropriate label, as it may not be immediately intuitive for users. A possible alternative would be to rename this button “+ Add”.
