1 1 Alexander Watzinger
h1. Bone inventory concept
2
3
Initial meeting: 2024-12-09
4
Participants: Alex, Bernhard, Nina
5
6
Current approach would be to
7
8
* Add a new OpenAtlas class *bone* (CIDOC class E20 - human remains)
9 6 Alexander Watzinger
* Add a system type *Bone inventory* with defined categories, which also contain some value types for counts of *Bone fragments* like, e.g. Rib 3-10 L/R
10 1 Alexander Watzinger
* Add a system type *Bone preservation* with options:
11
** "empty" - meaning the bone isn't available
12
** undefined
13
** less than 25 % preserved
14
** 25-75 % preserved
15
** 75-99 % preserved
16
** 100% preserved

h3. To discuss
19
20 5 Alexander Watzinger
*Structure*
21
It would be advantageous, besides connecting entities to category types, to also connect them between with P46 (composed of)
22
* What to do with in between categories, e.g. with "Inventory Teeth -> permanent -> Maxilla -> I1"
23
One approach would be to not create entities for these (see yellow ones at categories) and just connect to the next "existing one". For display the type hierarchy can still be used.
24
* At THANADOS they are currently all tracked as direct sub of the skeleton

h3. To do
27
28 2 Alexander Watzinger
* Design views for entering and viewing
29 1 Alexander Watzinger
* Build prototype
30
* Test with transformed THANADOS dataset
31
32
h3. Create new entries
33
34
* Data can be entered in a "guided" way starting with a button at the tool view of stratigraphic units
35
* Most likely we split the categories into (not too big) groups for easier data entry
36
* Default of *Bone preservation* will be empty. If left empty, no entities for these will created
37
* Where needed the *Bone fragments* will be provided and entering a positive integer is required
38
* If a sub category is chosen, the main category must be entered too
39
40
h3. Adding information
41
42
Once created it will be possible to add information in the detail view:
43
** Additional types (which can be added via the type hierarchy interface), e.g. diseases, dimensions, ...
44
** A description can be added (like with all other entities)
45
46
h3. Analysis
47
48
* A percentage sum (average of the main categories percentages) will be shown e.g. at the stratigraphic tool view.
49
** Are different parts weighted differently?
