Description
It would be nice to have an introduction text for OpenAtlas for the manual.
Everyone is invited to join drafting an introduction at
https://redmine.openatlas.eu/projects/uni/wiki/Introduction_text_for_OpenAtlas
- About 3 paragraphs, should fit into one page
- Easy to understand for scientific persons thinking about which tool to choose for research data
- Not too technical or user interface specific
- Should give an idea what it means to use OpenAtlas
- Use of links like e.g. to CIDOC CRM, should be more like an entry point and not explain everything
Sorry for the vague specifications but I'll hope you get the drift. When finished we could use the text on the https://openatlas.eu too.

Draft for introduction:
OpenAtlas is an open source database software developed especially to acquire, edit and manage research data from various fields of humanities (History, archaeology, prosopography etc.)
It provides a user interface that can be accessed via any common web-browser and allows the respective reseachers to work with their data via customized forms and categories to record complex relations as simple as possible.
The software automatically maps the information to the international standard of the CIDOC CRM and takes care of today's requirements regarding data standards, FAIR principles and data management against the background of current standards in Digital Humanities.
The software is and will always be free and open source to guarantee users full control of their created content and data.
