Description

It would be amazing if the "Alias" field would be available on other levels besides "Places" as well - especially on "Finds" and "Human remains" to enter and safe inventory numbers as well as/or a place of custody.

Thank you for reporting. Since the MoByz project wants a similar feature (maybe Johannes can add details) it's time to discuss it in more detail.

It looks to me more like an external reference than an alias because these identifiers are in relation to other (external) systems. It's already possible to define and use external references but it may be a little too cumbersome to use for e.g. an inventory number. It would be more comfortable if these fields could be managed in the admin interface to show up directly in the entity form e.g. like the GeoNames field at place if the GeoNames module is activated. If we take that approach we wouldn't have to adapt the model but would have to adapt the user interface forms which could be quite some work.

@ Stefan: assigning to you for now awaiting your input about this, maybe we can discuss it at next meeting

After discussing it with Stefan we decided to implement adding external reference fields to forms in the admin area.
Thank you Johannes for feedback too, the MoByz project could use a similar feature to track Prosopography Identifier for actors. They already solved it with a value type but we would remap this once implemented.
