Description
Our suggestion for implementation of a side wide search would be:
- Location like now, a search bar at the top
- A pre selection for which class to search
- The entered term will be searched (full text) for entities with specified classes, in name and description
- Placeholder with text e.g. "Search for entries in selected class"
The problem I encountered with a full text search on the name and description is that when you search for e.g. a person (like Pope Gregory) you will get a lot of entries because many actors have Gregory in their description. Then it might be difficult to find actors by their name.
Therefore I would just search for the name. Please let me know if that is okay for you.
- Status changed from Assigned to Resolved
- Assignee changed from Andreas Olschnögger to Becca Grose
Changes are already online (don't forget to refresh the browser to see them).
Assigning to Becca to check if everything works as expected, please close this issue if in that case. Otherwise please note issues here and/or we can discuss it in the next meeting.
- Status changed from Resolved to Assigned
- Assignee changed from Becca Grose to Andreas Olschnögger
Like discussed in the meeting today, the search works now as expected but it was decided to add a checkbox (default not checked) to search in descriptions too.
- Status changed from Assigned to In Progress
- Status changed from In Progress to Closed
Now with an klick on the configuration button inside the search you can choose if you want to search for the name the description or both.
